Confidence grows by constantly shifting your eyes and focus back to self!

As one of my peer coaches in all of her wisdom so eloquently stated, “You can’t stop your eyes from seeing. That is their purpose.”

She was right and a light bulb went on for me.

I have a strong belief that it is our own uniqueness that gives us value. Our uniqueness is what makes us different and special. As we embrace our own uniqueness we tap into our personal power.

My confidence began to increase as I began to accept me, all of me and learn to love what was me. Without the constant comparison, criticism and judgement.

This has been a process. I wasn’t always a confident person. I still have challenges as I continue to; grow my business, step outside of my comfort zone and work on myself.

When the light bulb came on, I realized that this wasn’t a one and done process. It’s a continuous daily practice. Why? Well, my eyes continue to SEE.

We’re going to see what others are doing in their career and life. We’re going to see them doing well. We’re going to see them evolving and putting themselves out there in new ways. Naturally, the tendency is to compare.

She’s smarter than me. She knows what she’s doing. She’s more put together than I. She has gifts and talents that are better than mine.

The truth is that we’re all dealing with challenges in one way or another. Despite the picture that may be portrayed. Despite what we see with our eyes.

The more we compare ourselves to others, the more we feel inadequate. This is because we are allowing our eyes to see for comparison. We should be using our eyes to see for motivation and inspiration. Then, quickly shifting our eyes and focus back to self.

What do I do well? What makes me great? How can I use my gifts and talents? What can I do to show up in a bigger way for myself? How can I take my career to the next level?

The eyes will see! It’s their purpose. We have to make a conscious choice to focus on our own strengths, our gift and talents, our voice and all that makes us unique. As we continue to refocus, keeping the picture crystal clear of who we are, our confidence will naturally grow.

We can always build and improve what’s already inherently present. However, trying to be and conform to something that we are not does not improve confidence. Constantly focusing on everything and everyone outside of ourselves only leaves us feeling not good enough.

We were never meant to be like everyone else, to have the same gifts and talents as others. To look, walk or dress like someone else. We were each given our own uniqueness. We were created to be ourselves fully and completely.

There was one Martin Luther King Jr. There was one Maya Angelou. There’s one Oprah Winfrey. There’s one Serena Williams. There’s one you!

Make it a daily practice to constantly shift your focus back to self. Reflect on your uniqueness and your greatness. Allow your eyes to see and be motivated and inspired by others. Don’t allow comparison to make you feel bad about yourself.

This is the best confidence boost that you can give yourself!
