Allow yourself to be taken care of and supported!
My heart is full and I have so much gratitude.
Last week and this past weekend we celebrated my Mom’s 60th birthday.
I’m so blessed to have my Mom and be able to make memories together.
I love spoiling her and doing as much as I can to show her how much I love and appreciate her.
It gives me great joy to see her happy; laughing, smiling, singing and dancing.
It’s not easy for my mom to let me do all of the things for her. Even though I’ve been doing it for many years now.
She’s my mamma and no matter my age, I’m always going to be her first-born baby girl.
Like so many of us, my mom is used to taking care of everyone else.
She’s always thinking about me, she doesn’t want to be a burden on me or for me to do “too much” for her.
I get it because I’m always thinking about her wellbeing too.
But, taking care of her is non-negotiable and it will always be my priority and honor.
As women and especially black women IT’S SO HARD for us to ask for help and receive help when its being offered or given.
In so many ways, we’ve been conditioned to over give, to take care of ourselves, to be INDEPENDENT and to do ALL OF THE THINGS ourselves. (Yes, I’m raising my hand too!)
Often to our detriment or at the expense of what we truly desire. Even when it’s coming from loved one’s and people who care, our default is…
- No.
- I got it.
- I can do it.
In my experience this becomes E-X-H-A-U-S-T-I-N-G.
The truth is that we need and deserve the utmost care, pampering, spoiling, kindness and love.
We have to give ourselves permission to receive, so that our default is…
- Yes!
- Sure!
- Thank you!
Without feeling bad or guilty!
This applies to our personal lives as well as our careers and businesses!
Remember to allow yourself to be taken care of and supported!
