Hey there, I’m in the market for someone with your expertise. I heard your name while listening to a podcast or maybe I saw an ad…

Here’s what I would do:

Google You!!! Of course everything starts and ends with Google!

I hope that I can find you or your business on the first page of the search results page.

Something should come up. Your website, Google business profile, social media profiles, business Yelp reviews, etc. Something!!!

*Yes, there’s a way to ensure that you’re Googleable aka searchable! 🤣

If nothing comes up. I would have some questions. Are you still in business? Are you seeing clients? Are you online? 😐

Oh great! I found your website!!!

Here are a few things that WOULD appeal to me as a potential customer:

✦ I’m able to learn about you and why you do what you do. (I want to get to know you.)

✦ It’s clear what you do. I can see your services. (I want to know if you can help me.)

✦ I can download or binge some of your content. (I want to learn something from your content and get started on my own.)

✦ I can watch a video or listen to you speak. (I want to connect with your human.)

✦ I’m able to text, call or book some time with you. (I want to easily and quickly connect with you if I’m interested.) Even if it’s not you and it’s a ChatBot or virtual assistant.

Here are a few things that WOULD NOT appeal to me as a potential customer:

⛔️ There’s no background information about you.
⛔️ It’s unclear what you do exactly.
⛔️ Your download links don’t work.
⛔️ There are glaring grammatical errors or huge typos that stand out.
⛔️ I’m unable to subscribe to your email list
⛔️ I can’t get immediate answers or reach you if I’m interested.
⛔️ There’s nothing to indicate that your business is open.

Every house needs a door and every business needs an online presence.

When you enter a home that’s warm and inviting you naturally want to stay.

Your online presence should provide a way to connect with you, engage with you and learn about your services.

If my interest is not peaked in you and your services, I’m not sticking around.
